Electric vehicle giant Tesla Inc. is preparing to launch operations in Morocco, signaling its first-ever entry into the African market. The move marks a major milestone for the U.S.-based automaker as it seeks to expand its global footprint beyond Europe, Asia, and North America.
Speculation about Tesla’s African debut grew after a new job listing appeared online for a “Country Sales & Delivery Leader” based in Casablanca. The posting — shared by Tesla influencer Sawyer Merritt — indicates that the company is setting up the groundwork for a commercial and operational presence in the North African nation.
According to the listing, the chosen candidate will oversee sales, delivery, and market development, acting as “an ambassador for Tesla” in Morocco. The role also includes building and managing a local workforce, training teams, and ensuring Tesla’s brand standards are maintained throughout the region.
This development follows Tesla’s official registration in Morocco in July 2025, with an initial investment of $2.75 million, according to The Habari Network.
Analysts say Morocco’s growing renewable energy sector, strategic geographic location, and infrastructure advancements make it a natural choice for Tesla’s African entry point. The country already hosts several major electric mobility and battery supply-chain projects, which could align seamlessly with Tesla’s long-term sustainability goals.
Industry observers believe Tesla’s move could pave the way for Supercharger networks, showrooms, and service centers across Morocco, potentially expanding later into other African markets.
If confirmed, Morocco would become Tesla’s gateway into Africa, setting the stage for broader adoption of electric vehicles across the continent.
