The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast indicating that a combination of thunderstorms and sunshine will prevail across various parts of the country for three consecutive days starting Friday, July 12.

According to the bulletin released by NiMet on Thursday, the forecast anticipates morning thunderstorms in several northern and central states, followed by sunny intervals and isolated rain showers later in the day. Southern states are also expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall, particularly in coastal and rainforest regions.

Public Advisory

NiMet has advised residents in flood-prone and low-lying areas to remain alert, particularly during periods of heavy downpour. Motorists and commuters are also urged to exercise caution, especially in regions likely to be affected by strong winds and reduced visibility during storms.

“The current weather pattern is typical for the rainy season and reflects the natural transition between heavy moisture-laden clouds and pockets of sunshine,” NiMet stated in the advisory.

Farmers, construction workers, and outdoor event organizers are encouraged to monitor daily updates and plan activities accordingly to avoid disruptions.

Regional Breakdown Summary

Region Weather Outlook
North-East/North-West Morning thunderstorms, followed by sunny spells
North-Central Frequent thunderstorms with isolated sunshine
South-East/South-West Cloudy mornings, rain in the afternoon

NiMet continues to reassure Nigerians of its commitment to delivering accurate and timely weather forecasts in line with international standards, aimed at safeguarding lives, agriculture, and infrastructure.
