UK police arrest seven Iranians over alleged threats to national security

UK authorities have arrested five individuals, including four Iranian nationals, in connection with an alleged terror plot. The arrests were made as part of a coordinated counterterrorism operation led by British law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

Officials say the suspects were detained on suspicion of preparing or instigating acts of terrorism. While specific details of the alleged plot have not been disclosed, investigators believe the group may have been planning activities that posed a significant threat to public safety.

The arrests occurred at multiple locations across the UK, and authorities have confirmed that no immediate threat to the public currently exists. Searches of several properties are ongoing, and forensic teams are examining digital and physical evidence recovered during the raids.

A spokesperson for the UK’s counterterrorism police said, “This is part of a proactive investigation aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the public. We are working closely with national and international partners.”

All five suspects remain in custody as inquiries continue. The Home Office has yet to comment on whether the individuals may face deportation or further national security measures, depending on the outcome of the investigation.

More updates are expected as the investigation develops.
