Former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the “angel” sent by God to rebuild Nigeria, insisting that the reforms introduced under Tinubu’s administration are laying the foundation for a stronger nation.
Bello made the remarks on Saturday during an endorsement rally for President Tinubu and Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, which aired live on TVC.
“We will not wait for God to send an angel with wings to fly into Nigeria to fix it. Did I tell you who the angel is? The angel is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” Bello declared to the cheering crowd. “If you’re waiting to see an angel flying on television to come and rescue Nigeria, you will wait forever.”
The former governor pointed to policy moves such as the removal of fuel subsidies, the establishment of a student loan scheme, the floating of the exchange rate, and increased revenue generation as proof that Tinubu’s leadership is steering Nigeria in the right direction.
According to Bello, these steps mark the beginning of the “new Nigeria” long desired by citizens, while noting that no government could instantly resolve decades of systemic rot.
“Yes, no government can fix everything all at once because of the years of decay,” he said. “But Mr. President is fixing it, and with our support, he will continue to fix it.”
Bello further stressed the importance of legacy in leadership, urging Nigerians to rally behind Tinubu not just for 2027, but to sustain his reforms for generations to come.
“Leadership without legacy is zero,” he remarked. “Going into the future, we want a situation where Mr. President will leave behind enduring legacies that we, and other well-meaning Nigerians, will continue to uphold.”
As the 2027 elections draw closer, Bello’s endorsement reflects growing political momentum behind Tinubu’s expected bid for a second term. Supporters of the president argue that his bold economic and governance reforms since taking office in 2023 are critical steps toward national recovery.
