Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has openly celebrated the release of embattled comedian Baba Ijesha, who recently regained his freedom after serving part of his sentence for a rape-related conviction.
Taking to Instagram shortly after the news broke, Fabiyi penned a lengthy message expressing joy over the development. He described Baba Ijesha as “back and better,” praising his resilience throughout the legal battle and time in prison.
Fabiyi also claimed that he was pleased the court had cleared Baba Ijesha of some of the initial allegations. He maintained that from the onset, he believed the case involving a minor was, in his view, mishandled and lacked clarity.
In his post, the actor revived long-standing disputes surrounding the controversial case. He alleged that the sting operation—set up by parties who first raised the alarm—presented information that was, according to him, inconsistent, especially regarding the girl’s age at the time of the incident.
Fabiyi further accused certain individuals associated with the case of unethical conduct. However, he emphasized that his statements were his personal opinions, not court-verified facts, and that none of his claims overturned the court’s earlier ruling.
Baba Ijesha’s release has already begun generating new conversations online, with supporters and critics clashing over Fabiyi’s assertions and what the development means for the long-running case.
