Genesis has officially taken its Magma concept from vision to reality with the unveiling of the 2026 GV60 Magma, the brand’s first production performance electric vehicle. With up to 650 horsepower, track-inspired features, and a bold new design attitude, the GV60 Magma marks the beginning of Genesis’ push into the luxury high-performance EV segment.
The production model shares its platform with the acclaimed Hyundai Ioniq 5 N and Ioniq 6 N, but Genesis has pushed the envelope further—making the GV60 Magma lower, wider, and significantly more aggressive than the standard GV60 crossover.
Performance Built for the Track
The dual-motor setup delivers:
-
641 hp / 478 kW and 582 lb-ft / 790 Nm in Boost Mode (available for 15 seconds)
-
601 hp / 448 kW and 545 lb-ft / 740 Nm under normal driving
-
0–200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.9 seconds
-
Top speed: 264 km/h (164 mph)
To elevate the driving experience, Genesis added a suite of performance systems:
-
Virtual Gear Shift (VGS) for simulated gear changes
-
Drift Mode with rear-biased power distribution
-
High-Performance Battery Control (HPBC) to regulate battery temperature during repeated track laps
-
Launch Control for rapid acceleration bursts
Reworked Dynamics and Chassis
The GV60 Magma sits 20 mm lower and carries a wider stance thanks to extended wheel arches. It rides on Magma-exclusive 21-inch forged wheels wrapped in 275-mm tires, with large brake rotors and monoblock calipers underneath.
The suspension receives major refinements, including:
-
Recalibrated roll center
-
Updated chassis geometry
-
Electronic Control Suspension (ECS)
-
End-of-Travel (EoT) damping for both comfort and stability
Design: Subtle Power, Not Flash
Genesis says it avoided “overly aggressive styling,” opting for what it calls “subtle, untapped power.”
Updates include:
-
Functional rear wing
-
Redesigned bumpers
-
Glossy black exterior moldings
-
Aerodynamic enhancements
Inside, the cabin uses Chamude, a suede-like material, combined with orange and gray contrast stitching. Magma Mode adds a new digital gauge cluster layout showing speed, G-force, and motor/battery temperatures.
Battery and Range
Genesis hasn’t disclosed battery capacity or range, but the GV60 Magma is expected to use the same 84-kWh pack from the Ioniq 5 N. On a 350 kW DC fast charger, the pack should go from 10% to 80% in about 18 minutes. Anticipated range is likely to be close to the Ioniq 5 N’s 221 miles (EPA).
Global Launch Timeline
-
Early 2026: South Korea release
-
Late 2026: North America and Europe
The GV60 Magma officially positions Genesis as a new contender in the high-performance EV landscape—combining luxury craftsmanship with a genuine performance pedigree.
