The Ogun West chapter of the City Boy Movement has commended Dapo Abiodun for endorsing Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola as the preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State.

The group described the governor’s decision as a decisive move that has effectively addressed growing speculation over succession plans ahead of the next election cycle.

In a statement issued on Monday, the movement’s coordinator, Ayodeji Idowu, said the endorsement demonstrated strategic leadership and a commitment to continuity in governance.

According to him, the decision followed a caucus meeting involving leaders of the All Progressives Congress and other stakeholders, where discussions centered on the party’s future direction and succession planning.

A video from the gathering reportedly captured Governor Abiodun informing party members that a consensus had been reached regarding the party’s preferred candidate.

Idowu noted that the development had helped resolve uncertainties surrounding the leadership transition in the state.

He praised the governor’s action as a demonstration of political foresight and commitment to stability, adding that the move would strengthen party unity ahead of the polls.

The group also congratulated Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, on his emergence as the party’s consensus candidate, describing him as a leader with strong grassroots appeal and proven performance.

Idowu highlighted Adeola’s track record in infrastructure development and community-focused projects, noting that these achievements position him as a credible successor.

He further stated that the movement would activate its support base across Ogun West and beyond to ensure victory for the APC in the 2027 governorship election.

The City Boy Movement also pledged to mobilise supporters and strengthen grassroots engagement in preparation for the campaign season.

With political alignments already taking shape, the endorsement is expected to further consolidate support for Adeola as the race toward the 2027 Ogun governorship election gradually gathers momentum.
