Cristiano Ronaldo could well be on his way out of Juventus this summer, but reports suggest his former club Real Madrid won’t be pursuing a deal to sign him.

Ronaldo, one of the highest-paid players in world football, has just over a year to run on his current contract.

But after Juve crashed out of the Champions League in a humiliating evening against Porto, it was widely reported that the Italian champions would let the forward leave.

Andrea Pirlo, who is also in a difficult situation at the moment with his job at risk, is reportedly set to sanction a squad rebuild this summer.

A return to Real Madrid has been widely touted, with reports suggesting the Spanish giants wanted to recreate their front three with Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.

However, Spanish outlet Marca claims Madrid are instead going to focus on signing younger players and trying to develop them.

That leaves the Portuguese icon in a difficult position, as very few clubs can afford to pay his wages of £540,000 per-week.

It seems unlikely that Paris Saint-Germain will look to sign him, with their priority instead on trying to get Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to sign bumper long-term contracts.

Manchester United are also unlikely to make a move, with their finances strict ahead of the summer and numerous other high-profile targets.

It seems he will instead stay at Juve, with the club’s vice-president Pavel Nedved adamant he wants the Portuguese star to stay put.

“For me, Cristiano can’t be touched. He has a contract until June 30, 2022, and he will stay. Well see what happens after that,” he said.
