Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Logan Paul reportedly set to fight in June

The fight between Logan Paul and boxing legend Floyd Mayweather reportedly is back on. According to The Athletic, Mayweather and Paul will square off in an exhibition likely for June 5 while TMZ puts forward a June 6 date and a Miami setting.

Mayweather suggested the bout was back on in an Instagram post on Wednesday, which would represent a resurrection of a deal that was planned for early this year before being pulled. It was thought that COVID-19 restrictions prevented sufficient fans from attending, and with the United States’ vaccine drive on course, a summer date offers the chance to earn more money.

There are reportedly two different weight limits, with Paul’s set at 190lbs and Mayweather’s 160lbs. The fight would be Mayweather’s second exhibition, defeating Tenshin Nasukawa in December 2018.

Paul’s younger brother Jake fought at the weekend to defeat Ben Askren in his third professional fight, and victory, earning what could be in excess of $10 million. Logan however has just one fight, a defeat, to his name in professional boxing.

Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn suggested to the DAZN Boxing Show that the new trend for celebrity spectacles instead of straight boxing fights was putting the future of the sport at risk.
