Gunmen kill local council government chairmanship aspirant in Enugu

Ejike Ugwueze, a local government council chairmanship aspirant in Enugu has reportedly been shot dead by gunmen.

The deceased who was aspiring for the chairmanship position of Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of the state, was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, which is the ruling party in the Enugu State.

It was gathered that he was driving along Neke Odenigbo, a community in Enugu East Local Government Area of the state when the gunmen blocked his vehicle and shot him multiple times before fleeing the scene.

He was later seen in a video making rounds on social media, lying lifeless in his Lexus SUV which had bullet holes on it.

Ejike is reportedly the brother of Chijioke Ukwueze who died in June 2020 while serving as a member of the State Assembly. The late lawmaker’s wife, Amaka Ugwueze was later elected to replace her husband in the house of assembly.
