The 25-year-old trained with Belgium U21 national team in March 2015 before a European Championship qualifier vs Moldova but was an unused substitute, paving the way to pledge his allegiance to the three-time Africa Champions.

Dessers was close to making his debut for Super Eagle but the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic stop the Genk star from taking to the pitch in the green-and-white colours back in March.
