Suspected armed robbers trail accountant from bank to Cross River Secretariat, shoot him and cart away bag of money

 

An accountant with the Cross River Ministry of Education was shot by suspected armed robbers who trailed him from a bank to the old Government Secretariat near Government House in Calabar.

 

The accountant, who was shot in the thigh, was trailed to his office complex at the secretariat from a bank where he had gone to make some withdrawals on Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

 

The two gunmen on a motorcycle forcefully took the bag containing money from him after shooting him at close range.

 

Spokesperson of the state Police Command, SP Irene Ugbo, who confirmed the incident, said the victim was immediately rushed to the Naval Referral Hospital for medical attention.

 

The PPRO condemned the act, adding that the police were already on the trail of the gunmen.
