The 57-year-old preacher and televangelist breathed his last on the evening of Saturday, June 5, but the cause of his death was not immediately disclosed.

According to a statement on his Facebook page, the man of God, who passed away just days to his birthday, spent his last moments serving God as he had done his entire life.

“On Saturday, June 5, 2021, Prophet TB Joshua spoke during the Emmanuel TV Partners Meeting: ‘Time for everything – time to come here for prayer and time to return home after the service’.

God has taken His servant Prophet TB Joshua home, as it should be by divine will. His last moments on earth were spent in the service of God. This is what he was born for, lived for and died for,” the statement indicated.

The statement also eulogised Joshua as a great man of God who leaves behind a legacy of service and sacrifice to God’s Kingdom that will live for generations.

It also asked for privacy on behalf of his family as they navigate through this tumultuous time.

“Here are Prophet TB Joshua’s last words: ‘watch and pray’. One life for Christ is all we have; one life for Christ is so dear,” the statement said.

Not celebrate birthday

A few days ago, the preacher uploaded a video on his social media platform in honour of his upcoming birthday.

But in what now seems like a premonition to his death, Joshua said it would not be easy for him to celebrate his 58th birthday which was set to be on June 12, 2021.

“It will not be easy for me to celebrate my birthday under the present circumstances. Some of the people who want to come are troubled by the situation,” he said.

Instead he asked his followers to pray and fast on June 12.
