Ferrari has come a long way since the 1947 125 S, which was powered by a 1.49-liter V12 engine. Now, we have the 6.3-liter V12 LaFerrari that has a hint of hybrid technology. The difference in horsepower between these two cars is over 800.

The new model has been codenamed F16X. Some Ferrari design traits will be present but the SUV will have enhanced ride height. The SUV will have a lot of aluminum in the body to keep the weight under control.The cabin will be lavish and it will have a sleek build. Seating capacity is not known but the cabin will be designed lavishly beyond any doubt. Touch screen based infotainment with Bluetooth support is expected and there will be premium sound system inside.

Sergio Marchionne, the President of Ferrari has said that the car will be produced by end of 2019 or at first quarter of 2020. The company was not very keen on launching an SUV but tremendous demand for SUV in both European countries and the USA has compelled it to change the view.

It is not clear which engine will be under the hood of the upcoming 2020 Ferrari SUV. A 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 engine is the likely contender to power the SUV.The same powertrain that powers Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid may be under the hood of new SUV. It may be a very fast SUV, on par with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio QV of FCA.

Ferrari has not said anything about the pricing of its upcoming SUV. You should not expect it to be cheap and a six-figure price tag is likely. The car may get into production by 2020 or so.
