As part of his strategic engagements with key sectors of the economy, The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, today moved his  campaign train to Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, in  a town hall meeting with the mining community.
Nasarawa State is a major mining hub for many solid minerals in Nigeria, with deposits of Gold, Barite, Coal, Clay, Lead-Zinc, Sault, Gemstone, Silica Sand, Iron Ore, Granite, Tantalite, Marble, Mica, Cassiterite, Limestone and Aquamarine.
The event which had the Speaker of the House of Reps, investors from the mining sector, economic experts, serving and former Governors from the different states,  Party Faithfuls, Stakeholders and grassroots politicians in attendance.
Tinubu while addressing the mammoth Crowd unveiled his plans for the mining sector when he becomes president in 2023, in his words, “We will remove bottle necks and issues around legal miming in  Nigeria, we will ensure miming contributes majorly to GDP, use solid minerals to creat jobs and wealth but not banditry” .
While speaking to the media during the event, The APC National Women Leader, Dr Betta Edu who corroborated the presidential candidate’s position  emphasized that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the best candidate to be elected as president come 2023. He is a hard worker, a team player and a promise keeper, if voted, there will be  progress and prosperity for all. The  cycle of poverty and hopelessness will be broken.
Dr Edu also called on women to get involved in the mining sector to financially empower themselves and contribute to the nation’s economy. She also assured Women of Sen. Tinubu’s strong commitment to providing incentives to business women to ensure they grow their businesses and prosper in the mining industry.
 Leaders at the Lafia event were  the Speaker of Representatives, Rt. Hon Gbajamiamila, APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt hon. Femi Gbajabiamila,  the DG of the  APC Presidential Campaign Council, Simon Lalong, host Governor  of Nasarawa,  Abdullahi A. Sule, former Gov of Nasarawa, Senator Tanko Almakura, Prof Zulum, Governor of Brono, Gov. Massari Governor of Kastina, members of NWC, Legislators  of National Assembly and other party chieftains.
