Alleged Debt: Pay My Money Or I Press Your Neck, Businesswoman Tells Works Minister

Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has dismissed allegations linking him to sexual harassment and claims that he owes a businesswoman, Tracynither Ohiri, the sum of ₦250 million, describing the accusations as false and an attempt to damage his image.

The controversy, which has generated widespread discussion online, centres on claims that the minister failed to pay for promotional materials allegedly supplied during his 2014 governorship campaign in Ebonyi State.

Reacting while inspecting ongoing construction work on the Onitsha–Awka–Enugu Expressway, Umahi firmly denied the allegations and stated that he would not be intimidated or pressured by social media narratives.

He emphasized that the matter is already before the court and challenged those making the accusations to present credible evidence to support their claims. According to him, he remains undistracted and fully committed to his responsibilities as Minister of Works.

Umahi described the accusations as deliberate attempts to divert attention from his ongoing efforts to reform infrastructure delivery and ensure quality road construction across the country.

He reaffirmed his loyalty to his duties, the Nigerian people, and the administration of President Bola Tinubu, stressing that he would remain focused on delivering lasting infrastructure despite ongoing criticism.

Speaking on the road project, Umahi expressed satisfaction with the progress made so far, noting that a substantial stretch of the expressway has already been completed using concrete technology designed to last significantly longer than conventional asphalt roads.

He urged contractors to accelerate their pace of work to meet the agreed deadlines, adding that the government is determined to ensure Nigerians benefit from durable and high-quality infrastructure.

The minister concluded by reiterating his commitment to national development and insisted that legal processes would resolve the allegations against him.
